Students from Kent College of Nursing and Midwifery in Mongu recently undertook an educational tour of Western Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (WWSSCL) to gain a better understanding of how water is processed and supplied to communities.
The tour provided the students with an opportunity to observe the journey of water from the intake point through various treatment stages before it reaches consumers. WWSSCL staff guided the students through key processes, including water abstraction, treatment, chlorination, storage, and distribution.
During the visit, the students received practical insights into the measures the Company takes to ensure the provision of clean, safe, and reliable water to the public. The tour also highlighted the importance of maintaining high water quality standards to safeguard public health.
The educational visit was aimed at equipping the future nurses and midwives with knowledge on water safety, sanitation, and hygiene—critical components in the prevention of disease and the promotion of healthy communities. Access to safe water remains a fundamental pillar of public health and plays a vital role in healthcare delivery.
Western Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited reaffirmed its commitment to supporting learning institutions through educational tours and awareness programmes. The Company noted that such initiatives help enhance understanding of water, sanitation, and hygiene issues among students and contribute to building informed and health-conscious communities.
